JR Rockers Football Frenzy Is Back!

Sunday NFL Football is back and I am so happy!  NOT happy that I have to wake up at 5am on a Sunday just to watch football, but what else am I going to do living in this crazy time zone!  All the JR Rockers regulars returned this football season Sunday opening.  There were also a few noobs (synonyms: newbies, new people, people that never attended a JR Rockers Sunday before in their life) there that attempted to take over my spot.  I put the kabash on that quick though and reclaimed my beloved island. 

So far we are in week 2 of Fantasy Football and I am 1-0 in BOTH my leagues.  This week is going to be pretty much neck at

neck though.  I'll let you know how it went on Tuesday once all the games are played.  For now, check out our pictures of our veteran group of JR Rockers football friends.

Draft Day Upon Us!

Oh the smell of chicken wings, beer and poop talking have returned!  Today was my draft day for one of my fantasy football leagues.  Todd and I set up our laptops side by side and started picking away.  I was 4th on the picks so my first pick was of course, Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings.  There were a few hiccups during the draft.  My sorry excuse for internet service went out twice, but only during the end when we were picking our reserve players so it wasn't too bad I guess.  The other guys kept taking all the players I wanted too!  But, I think I ended up with an okay team.  I'm not sure if I'm going to be kicking myself in the butt later when I have no back up tight ends or kickers, but I'm sure I'll get by.  Check out my team for the International Players League.  Next week, it's the JR Rockers League Draft Day!  Good luck everyone!

It was a good game.  I thought it was going to be a blowout, but it ended up being a 3 point game!  Can't wait until the real season starts....especially now that I have a new TV! :)

Raiders Screwing Up Crabtrees Payout

Check out this article about Micheal Crabtree (San Fran 49er's) latest holdout.  He's blaming it all on the Raiders.  Go ahead, buddy, everyone try's to blame everything on the Raiders.  Too bad it's not going to work for him.  Such a shame to see a good player miss his first season of Pro due to Al Davis' crazy, sketchy draft picks (according to Crabtree).

Raiders Disappoint on Draft Day

I know all the Raider fans out there just wanted to throw up when we watch who the Raiders (or should I say AL Davis) picked in the first round.... and second.... and so on.  What are they thinking?!?!  I thought we could try for a comeback this year, but alas, I see we will still and continue our road down SUCKSVILLE!  Read here on some thoughts from others.  Meanwhile I'll burn all my Raiders gear until Al steps down.

Thoughts of the Raiders 2009 Draft picks by TIm Kawakami:

* With the 7th overall pick, and with the Raiders looking at the possibility of taking a supremely productive and tougher WR in Michael Crabtree or a fast and productive WR in Jeremy Maclin or a top OT in Eugene Monroe or a huge DT in B.J. Raji or TRADE DOWN…

Al reached humongously for fast non-productive WR Darrius Heyward-Bey out of Maryland. (There is not a great history of non-productive fast guys going to the NFL and then producing TDs, but Al keeps trying!)

* Then in the 2nd round, Al traded out of the No. 40 spot (to New England), went back 7 spots, then selected S Mike Mitchell out of Ohio University, a total speed-physical guy who was not listed by several draft analysts. Not in the top 10, not in the top 100… NOT LISTED.

I’m sorry, but this guy does not seem like the second coming of Ed Reed to me. More like the second coming of some guy Al could’ve drafted in the fifth or sixth round, but was too stubborn to want to do that.

If Cable had any juice in this organization, he would’ve pushed hard for Monroe or Crabtree or Maclin–all picks that would’ve shown that Al wasn’t going to let his obsession for stop-watch speed warp his judgement yet again.

(Fabian Washington! Derrick Gibson! Napoleon Kaufman! Jessie Hester! James Jett!)

Or Cable would’ve helped Al decide that if Heyward-Bey had to be the pick, Al could move back 10 more picks and still get him.

Nope. Al went loopy for super-speed. Al had to prove he was right, though he has proven how wrong he can be year after year.

And Al proved that Cable has no credibility, just like every other of the last many Raiders coaches, who all failed. Because they had no credibility, you see.

But that’s the only way Al likes it.
