Flag Football

Welcome to another season of Flag Football!!  I wanted to have a place where we could "click" and have the latest info of what the team is doing and any important info that needs to be passed.  I will continue to pass info via the kids, but we know sometimes it doesn't reach our ears or gets passed incorrectly. Anything dealing with individual or a specific person will not be posted, only "team" information.  As always my phone is open for calls, anytime.

Vision : Our vision as a team will be to have an environment that teaches the fundamentals of football, sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork and builds self-confidence while having fun.

Team: Everyone practices, Everyone plays. No Sandbagging

Parents:  The team will be successful with your support.  Good sideline manners, participating with snacks, volunteering for down markers, and positivly encouraging your son or daughter. 

Winning: This is a great goal, but not our priority.  Teaching the kids the fundamentals, respect of each other and the game is priority.

So far the kids have been great!!  They listen, they're on time to practice, and they want to learn.  So a big "Mahalo" from me and Coach Bill.

Thunderbirds at Hickam!

Sunday the S Squad and friends went to see the Thunderbirds at the Hickam Air Show.  It was awesome.  All that kept playing in my head was the Kenny Loggins song "Danger Zone."  You know, the Top Gun song!  Of course these were Air Force guys and not Navy, plus they were minus Goose and Iceman, but other than that, it was almost the same!  I tried my hardest to take some cool pictures during the airshow.  Click here to view them. 

Among the planes, there were also helicopters and Jeeps and guns!  Oh, fun!  Little Todd really enjoyed seeing the helicopters....we definately have a future military man here.  Anyways, the pictures I took say it all....enjoy!

CGSA Welcome Tea 2009

This year I catered the CGSA Welcome Tea.  The Tea is a get together

for all CG spouses on the island at the Admiral's house at Diamond Head Lighthouse.  The view is awesome!  The get together is to inform new spouses to Oahu about what we do in the club and what kind of events are going on throughout the year.  This year they went with the island theme and wanted island pupus (appetizers).  I came up with this menu:

Vegetarian Summer Rolls with Sweet Chili Dipping Sauce

Banana Bread
Chocolate Chip/Macadamia Nut Cookies

The food was a hit!  Everybody LOVED it and some even took some home for later.  I couldn't have done it without my helpers friends though.  I was so busy making sure the food was well stocked and warm that I barely got to enjoy the actual Tea.  Click here to see the pictures that I did get though.  Too bad I won't be here next year!  :(

JR Rockers Football Frenzy Is Back!

Sunday NFL Football is back and I am so happy!  NOT happy that I have to wake up at 5am on a Sunday just to watch football, but what else am I going to do living in this crazy time zone!  All the JR Rockers regulars returned this football season Sunday opening.  There were also a few noobs (synonyms: newbies, new people, people that never attended a JR Rockers Sunday before in their life) there that attempted to take over my spot.  I put the kabash on that quick though and reclaimed my beloved island. 

So far we are in week 2 of Fantasy Football and I am 1-0 in BOTH my leagues.  This week is going to be pretty much neck at

neck though.  I'll let you know how it went on Tuesday once all the games are played.  For now, check out our pictures of our veteran group of JR Rockers football friends.

Hiking Manoa Falls

I know I said  I was going to try to hit up different hiking areas every week before and never did.  Today I finally went to one though!  I went to Manoa Falls with the CGSA for our monthly Island Adventure Club get together.  Every second Tuesday of every month we go to a selected destination on the island for some kind of outdoor activity.  Today we hiked Manoa Falls.  The hike to the falls is only .8 miles long, so Dori and I decided to be more adventurous and hit up other nearby trails (there are 17 total in that area).  We ended up going the wrong way and climbing over rocks and tree trunks.  We knew something was not right when we couldn't even tell if there was a path or not.  Then we didn't see any other hikers.  We finally hit a big rock wall and decided to turn back around.  Then we found the trail we were "supposed" to be on.  Oh well.  It was fun.  So we went back on the right trail and kept hiking.  It was LONG, so long that we had to turn back.  Dori's legs were hurting and my stomach was eating itself, I was so hungry!  We finally made it back to the car, 3 hours after we started our original Manoa Falls hike with the CGSA!  It was an adventure though!  To check out more pictures click here and enjoy!
